Euphoria
Euphoria is a popular HBO show released in 2019, which follows a group of high school teenagers as they face issues related to societal pressures, drugs, mental conditions, and trauma. The show follows the main character Rue, played by Zendaya Coleman, who is a drug addict that deals with many stereotypical teenage issues. The plot presents Rue's mental health journey as the episodes break down stigmas and stereotypes pertaining to mental health problems.
Rue deals with conditions such as substance abuse, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). An aspect of psychology that relates to this show is parenting styles. There are many different types of styles such as permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative which demonstrates the ways the parents treat and respect their children.
